One of the Oldest Monarchies in Cameroon

The Mankon Fondom (kingdom) represents one of the oldest monarchies of the grassfield people of the Northwest Region of Cameroon, ruled by HRH Fo'o SAN Angwafo III. The sons and daughters of Mankon constitute a vibrant community of hardworking men and women who make up a large part of the Bamenda metropolitan population. Our Origin

The Story Behind the Name

14th Century

The Great Migration

The Mankon people migrated from the Tikar region through hostile terrains, eventually settling in present-day Mankon.

The Naming Moment

Weh Mankuung Eh

When leader Fo Ndehmagha IV turned and saw the enormous wave of people behind him, he exclaimed 'Weh Mankuung eh' - big tail or big wave. The Mankon people were named.

Today

The Big Wave Grows

The sub-groups are called Nkon (small wavelets). The big wave continues expanding across continents while retaining its DNA and allegiance to the source.

“A man without his culture is like a tree without roots.”

OUR CODE OF CONDUCT

Preserving the Mankon Way of Life

On the cultural front, the Mankon people practice, teach, and pass on to their children a Code of Conduct Discipline. MACUDA-America serves as a lead to research, galvanize, and further develop this code to guide those residing in North America.

MACUDA-America was formally launched in 2006 and has since held annual conventions. Our developmental goals are holistic - ensuring the social, economic, and political empowerment of our members. As we push forward for a better association, we recognize that we have to work as one - for all and all for one.
