Jahsandoh

Cultural Ambassador

Tumasang Elijah Ndoh, who goes by the artistic name Jahsandoh, is a Cameroonian artist hailing from the grass field, precisely Mankon... the versatile Afrobeat and cultural singer was given birth in Mankon land on 15 July 1980. Before venturing into music, Jahsandoh was a young boy who received his education in Mankon, after which he got engaged in electrical engineering and became a full-time engineer in electrical appliances. Jahsandohs, as a young boy who loved his mother, always followed her to the locally called njangi gathering, where music was always played. This was how Jahsandoh's love for music started growing. He got inspired more whenever he was fortunate to witness Mankon's big music icons like Rick Nguti and John Minang perform.

Background

Jahsandoh who has been into music since 1992 released his first album in 1995 titled “Babe Oilaghe” literally translated as ‘Baby where are you’. He later sang and played music in cabarets. In 2005, Jahsandoh won the Concour National La Chansion Musique Award referred today as Music Star. “It was then I moved on to release my second album titled “True Love” and in 2010, I again released “I had a dream,” which has been one of my best selling albums.” Fast forward to South Africa, Jahsandoh released another album to honour His Majesty, Fo Angwafo III titled, “Tribute to the Fon of Mankon Angwafo III" making it his third album. Before the release of his rumba tract, Jahsandoh also honoured the present Kingship of Mankon with “Tribute to the Fon of Mankon, Angwafo IV” and today, the rumba rhythm titled “Mama". When asked why he chose rumba and singing his mother tongue, Jahsandoh said, “The reason I chose this rumba rhythm for this particular song ‘Mama’ is because rumba has this African feeling that I discovered that if I use Mankon dialect well in it, it will give me what I want.” Though his musical career has not been a walk in the park, Jahsandoh is still promising to give more out there to his fans because his experience in a music school in South Africa and other trainings around the country.
