Professor Gideon Akumah Ngwa is a distinguished Cameroonian scientist, scholar, educator, and traditional leader whose remarkable career spans more than three decades. *Early Life and Education* Professor Gideon Akumah Ngwa was born on May 4, 1966, in the historic Mankon Kingdom in the North West Region of Cameroon. He grew up in a polygamous family with his father, two mothers, and numerous siblings. His early education began at C.S. Alamatu, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He subsequently attended Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Bamenda, where he developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, discipline, and academic excellence. He later attended CCAST Bambili, successfully completing his General Certificate of Education Advanced Level examinations. His academic performance earned him a Cameroon Government Scholarship to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom. He studied at the University of Swansea in Wales, earning a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Pure and Applied Mathematics. He subsequently proceeded to the University of Oxford, where he earned a Master's degree in Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis. He later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) in Mathematical Biology at Oxford's Centre for Mathematical Biology under the supervision of Professor Philip K. Maini. At Oxford, Professor Ngwa developed his passion for applying mathematics to biological and public health challenges, particularly the modelling of epidemics and infectious diseases. *Academic Career* Professor Ngwa returned to Cameroon in the early 1990s, responding to the call to contribute to the development of Cameroon's higher education system. He joined the University of Buea in 1995 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1998, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematical Modelling in 2006, and attained the rank of Professor of Applied Mathematical Modelling in 2020. At the University of Buea, he served as Head of the Applied Mathematical and Computer Assisted Modelling Unit (AMCAMU) within the Department of Mathematics.
