MACUDA America Support Plan AKWATE

What is AKWATE?

This is a MACUDA America Support plan, also referred to as “AKWATE”. In Mankon, Akwate means “to offer help”. This plan was created to support and help families of members when the unfortunate happens. It is not known in advance who will benefit from the plan.

Amount of Help

• A maximum of $10,000 for members who are 18 years or older.
• A maximum of $5,000 for members who are younger than 18 years.

Fees and Payments

• $12 yearly Administrative Fee ($1/month).
• $100 yearly payment for members 18 years or older.
• $50 yearly payment for members younger than 18 years.

Eligibility Requirements

• All members who paid annual dues in 2024 or are currently registered in a local branch are eligible to enroll immediately.
• Enrollment is conducted at the Branch level by Branch Leaders.
• Members between 18 and 22 are eligible to enroll if at least one parent satisfies registration requirements.

Enrollment Period

• The enrollment period for 2025 (Jan 1 – Dec 31, 2025) is November 1 – December 31, 2024, extended to February 28, 2025.
• Enrollment is open to new members throughout the year after satisfying registration requirements.
• Members should provide contact information (telephone number) during enrollment.

Beneficiary

Members have up to 6 months from enrollment to provide their beneficiary’s name and contact information. Beneficiary name must match valid ID (Driver’s License, Passport, State ID, Green Card).

Vesting Schedule

Members are eligible for the benefit 6 months after enrollment.

Hybrid Plan

If the beginning-year account balance drops to 50% before December 31st, additional payments will be required from all members. The benefit amount is divided by the number of plan members to determine the additional payment per event.

Subsequent Years

• Members must continue paying the $12 admin fee and $100 yearly payment each year.
• Members who miss a year will be dropped from the plan.
• Re-enrollment requires back payments for all years skipped plus a new 6-month wait.

In the Event of a Member’s Passing

The Coordinating Team must be notified immediately. Once confirmed, payment is disbursed to the designated beneficiary within one week. A picture ID of the beneficiary is required.

Additional Notes

• You cannot register a parent or senior on this plan without registering yourself.
• Members are encouraged to enroll through their Branch Leaders.
• New members from Mankon or other countries are welcome to join after satisfying US registration requirements.
• This plan will be reviewed yearly. No changes without approval from MACUDA America Leadership and the Coordinating Team.
